Holistic approach in relation to the level of health of the person and understanding a sick person's symptom picture:
* The levels of health of a person as defined by Hahnemann and Kent (and their interrelationship)
* Hering's Law of Cure
* The language of nature (e.g. the expression of the language of nature in a sick person's symptom picture, between and within the levels of the person)
2.Materia Medica:
* Applicants will be expected to have completed a general study of Materia Medica. This will, for example, be reflected in differential diagnosis work in case studies.

| HOMŒOPATHY – PHILOSOPHY, STUDY 1 | | | | AWARENESS
| | Nature is organised. Nature operates according to fixed rules. It operates in a state of perfect harmony. When it is not interfered with it can provide all of the resources necessary for life. People who are motivated by, for example, greed or power, can make it more difficult for nature to operate harmoniously. Some of these people can cause great disruptions in nature's interplay between the elements. When one element is adversely affected, the other elements will be affected also, to a greater or lesser degree. The result is that nature then becomes "out of balance" or "sick".
Examples of these disruptions can be seen all over the world. For example, the diversion of rivers can be seen to cause the death of inhabitants who lived in the areas where the rivers once flowed, the pollution of rivers can cause destruction and sometimes death, there are the well documented effects of pollution by nuclear waste and nuclear "accidents", by chemical fertilizers, by "pesticides" etc., etc.
*Exercises to expand Awareness (1): | |
| 1. Identify as many examples as possible where people have damaged the harmony of nature.
2. Extend your reading list to include more articles about ecology and nature. An increasing number of magazines and books focus upon these topics.
3. Consider the results of peoples' actions, including the results of your own actions.
| |
Observation of surroundings helps to remove prejudices. When awareness increases, prejudices reduce. It is important to always look for the truth.
| | Measuring a person's level of health by understanding the meaning of "truth"
The final result should be the same as that which was promised at the outset, this fact should be easily recognisable, and the result should be good. If a promise is not fulfilled, we immediately know that what was promised was not true. If a person says something that is not true on one occasion, we know that, unless their level of health changes, this person will repeat the same mode of behaviour.
| |
| Person A | | Person B | | Promised to make Birthday Cake
| | Promised to make a Birthday Cake | | | The Result | | The Result | | Person A makes a Birthday Cake
| | No Birthday Cake and an excuse from Person B: "I was so busy!"
| | | The Conclusion | | The Conclusion | | Person A spoke "the truth"
| | Person B did not speak "the truth". We know that this phenomenon is likely to recur unless this person's level of health improves
| |
| *Exercises to expand Awareness (2): | |
| | 4. Make a list of how many promises you know of that have been broken, for example: |
| | | a. Items purchased that failed to fulfil their stated function.
b. Employers', employees', colleagues', professionals', and acquaintances' promises that were not fulfilled.
c. Friends, neighbours or family who promised to do something for you but did not fulfil the promise.
d. Promises that you have made but have not fulfilled. |
All of these broken promises are a sign of sickness.
Observation of the Truth
Observation of the truth is not a skill that is difficult to acquire, neither is it connected to believing what you are told, it is simply a matter of careful and unprejudiced observation. The more a person looks for the truth, the easier it will become for them to observe it. A person needs only to remember that good things cannot be built upon lies.
Awareness about a decrease in the level of health of some societies
In the past in some societies many more people were truthful, "a man's word was his bond". A business promise, whether verbal or made with a handshake, was a promise that could be relied upon. But today, in some sick societies, there is an increase in the number of people who will lie to get what they want. The results are easy to see, there is a lack of trust, making life harder, wasting time, and an increase in the number of legal documents that are created, with the resultant increase in profits for the lawyers. "Bureaucracy has gone mad" and the truth is often obscured by jargon.
The norm is to trust everybody, but today more and more people are living a contract based life.
Honesty is an indication of health
What people say is connected to what they think and feel. It is very difficult for people to hide what they are thinking and/or feeling from those who are observant. When someone hides what they are thinking and/or feeling, there are always discrepancies in what they say, and even if these discrepancies are not observed immediately, it is just a matter of time before they will be revealed.
A person may say something that is very strong and convincing, but that does not mean that what they say is true. If what someone says leads to problems, we know that they were not honest.
Honesty is connected to health, the more healthy a person is, the clearer are their thoughts, and the more reliable are their motivations. A healthy person behaves in an honest manner.
When someone lies, we know that they are sick. What a person says and does always reflects their level of health.
Discrepancies
Recognising even the smallest discrepancy is a fundamental skill for a Homœopath. This ability is connected to the Art of Homœopathy, it is connected to the Homœopath's level of health, to their natural abilities of perception and to their continued desire to improve their natural abilities. This skill is not something that can be learned from a book. It is a skill that begins within a person. A person who has learned the Philosophy of Homœopathy well also needs additional skills to be a Homœopath.
Homœopathy is a natural system of curing, while it is a science, and its rules can be learned, it is also an art, and a person must have the natural ability to practice the art. These natural abilities can never be learned from a book, but recognition of what these natural abilities are and recognition of the importance of them can enable a person to improve their natural skill. Whether or not a person has this natural skill does not make them a more or less important person, it is just a matter of individuality. If a person does not have natural abilities in one area they will have them in another.

The Art of Homœopathy combined with the Science of Homœopathy demonstrates a harmonious system of healing that leads to restoration. Homœopathy is an empirical science and both the system and the remedies that are used are natural.
